Dr. Petti Recognizes National Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2019
For Los Angeles plastic surgeon Christine Petti, MD, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month (NCBAM) calls upon all Americans to participate in the continuing fight against breast cancer. Each year since its inception in 1985, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month has shone a spotlight on the vital importance of breast cancer screening and early detection in increasing breast cancer survival rates. It has also provided critical support for ongoing research, new treatment methods, and prevention.
As a woman and a plastic surgeon who performs the full spectrum of cosmetic breast surgeries, Dr. Petti has always maintained a strong focus on promoting optimal breast health. In meeting with women to discuss breast surgery, Dr. Petti has a unique opportunity to emphasize the life-saving benefits of regular self-exams, mammograms, and MRIs (if indicated). The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) reports that more than 250,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year, and Dr. Petti believes that spreading awareness and life-saving information about breast cancer is one of the most important and rewarding aspects of her job.
Throughout her career, Dr. Petti has proven herself to be a champion of women and women’s causes, most notably in the arena of breast cancer awareness. In addition to being an active member of the Advisory Board for Cancer Support Community of The South Bay, Dr. Petti has continuously provided her personal support, resources, and voice against breast cancer. Additionally she strives to provide strength to those fighting the disease, celebrates survivors, and remembers those who have lost the battle with breast cancer.
